Today I was a guest speaker at the Environmental Leadership Workshop for high school students held at Taronga Zoo Institute of Science and Learning @ Mosman. The Leadership Workshop and Sustainability Expo was a leadership event for 80 students to learn how to become better environmental leaders and mentors. Ten schools were represented with 8 students from each school. The event was funded by the NSW Government and coordinated by Observatory Hill Environmental Education Centre.
Tonight I was a member of the audience at UTS with discussion on how the products we want and interact with become “carbon sinks” thereby actively reducing atmospheric carbon emissions. Host for the event was Craig Reucassel. Key speaker was the marine ecologist, Alex Thomson, leading science and industry engagement manager in the UTS Faculty of Science and a big fan of algae and how it can change our planet!

How exciting! I was the Guest Speaker for the first screening in Australia of the “Earth Protectors” film by leading environmental artist, Anne de Carbuccia @ Western Sydney University campus, Parramatta. For the last decade Anne has artistically portrayed and documented human-caused threats to the planet including drought, plastic oceans, species extinction and endangered cultures which has been captured in her film.
